Life Cycle Assessment that stands up to scrutiny
A full ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 compliant study of your product's environmental impact, from raw materials to end of life.
- ISO 14040
- ISO 14044
Typical timeline: Typically 6 to 12 weeks for a streamlined LCA; 3 to 6 months for a full study, depending on data availability.
A Life Cycle Assessment measures the environmental impact of a product or process across every stage of its life, from the extraction of raw materials, through manufacturing, distribution, use, and end of life. It quantifies impacts across multiple categories, including climate change (kg CO₂e), water use, eutrophication, acidification and resource depletion, and identifies where the largest impacts sit, so you know where reduction effort is best spent.
We follow the four ISO 14040 stages, goal and scope, inventory analysis, impact assessment, and interpretation. We use industry-standard LCA software and recognised background databases, and we declare the method, database version and characterisation factors we have used. Every assumption is documented, so an external reviewer can always answer the question: where did this number come from?
The deliverable
- 1A goal and scope document agreed with you before any modelling begins.
- 2A full life cycle inventory, with every dataset, assumption and primary-data source traceable.
- 3A life cycle impact assessment across the relevant impact categories.
- 4A clear interpretation section identifying hotspots and improvement opportunities.
- 5A report formatted for your audience, internal, customer-facing, or ready for third-party review.
How an LCA project runs
- 01
Goal & scope
We agree the question the study must answer, the functional unit, the system boundary and the data requirements up front.
- 02
Data collection
We work alongside your team to gather primary process data, supplemented with recognised background databases where primary data is unavailable.
- 03
Modelling
We build the inventory and run impact assessment in a recognised LCA platform, documenting every assumption.
- 04
Interpretation
We identify hotspots, test sensitivity, and translate the numbers into decisions you can act on.
- 05
Reporting
You receive a transparent, ISO-aligned report ready to support an EPD, a claim, or an internal decision.
Common questions
A streamlined LCA typically takes 6 to 12 weeks; a full study for an EPD typically takes 3 to 6 months. The main driver is how quickly we can get accurate primary data from your supply chain.
Primary data gives the most credible results, so we ask for what you can realistically provide. Where it is genuinely unavailable we use recognised background datasets and flag the limitation.
Yes. We design LCA studies so they can feed directly into an EPD to the relevant product category rules, avoiding duplicated work.
Other services
- Environmental Product DeclarationA verified, comparable, programme-operator-format Type III declaration you can publish, share with customers and submit to tenders.
- EPD VerificationIndependent third-party verification of EPDs and the underlying LCA. Conflict-free, by qualified verifiers.
- LCA Critical ReviewIndependent review of your existing LCA study for robustness, transparency and ISO compliance, before it goes public.
- Greenhouse Gas ReportingOrganisational and product-level GHG accounting across Scope 1, 2 and 3, to inform decarbonisation strategy and meet disclosure requirements.
